Help answer a subject about transport to africa
I wish to travel to South Africa for a World Cup subsequent year though as poor as possible. Any ideas?Me as well as a crony have been unfortunate to transport to South Africa from England to be there for a World Cup. We have been demure to fly due to costs, does any one have any ideas of how to get there possibly for giveaway or really cheap? Thanks!
all the same really.why dont you just do your own neighborhood ,why is it u feel u can impact a place who dont actually give a damn if you starve in ur own world.at least u serve ur own without your little guilt trip pouring out.africa survives best without western influence by the way.
fix ur own area 1st before trying to fix something u havent a clue about.
You arrogant prick . I wish the vulture was eating you alive , just to hear you call out for help to the God you deny , you pathetic hypocrite
I recommend flying as close as possible, then taking a vehicle the rest of the way.
Avoid on foot travel as much as possible.
Although i'm not sure if Victoria Falls is in an African Crisis Zone.
Remember, not all of Africa is in turmoil, although the vast majority is.
tripod and decent zoom lens would be nice and maintain the shot
far out!
at least apply some aenesthetic!
Ghana has an extremely low crime rate and is very tranquil, so that would be a good one to consider if safety is the number one concern. I will say though, that most African countries are safe as long as they are not active war zones and in the news for it all the time (e.g. Somalia). Tourists are almost never targeted because the small-time criminals are too scared of what a foreign government can do to them for harming one of it's citizens. It would probably be best for you to go with a tour group since you won't have any contacts at your destination. Also, assuming $500 doesn't include airfare, then you're good to go. Otherwise, it wouldn't even get you a one way ticket.
they said it was alive in the video.
that was horrible !
South Africa has relatively resonable bus companys.
This one will take you from the south Cape Town to johannesburg and then some,

In Tanzania you use the services of..
eastafricashuttles.com Shuttle bus services between Kenya – Nairobi, Tanzania- Arusha, Moshi, Jomo Kenyatta Airport and Kilimanjaro International Airport. Dar es Salaam. Also Book hotels in Nairobi City , Excursions and arrange for Airport Transfers.
i suggest checking with the concerned embassies and high commisions. i agree with the first answerer about the age beeing 18 and above.
That's a good question, and I often wondered that myself. I think because it was already established in Europe. They already had a system in place that proved profitable and easy. Why try something else, when something already works. Plus the amount of people in Africa. There was an endless supply of humans in Africa.
The cheapest way is flying. Walking / driving or whatever will cost you more in the end.
Book your flights early to avoid buying seats last minute when prices are high. Check with BA, they usually have good prices and they are usually refundable or changeable with a small fee – unlike other airlines. They also fly direct.
Check into a B&B in a good residential area for security or even, most 4 star hotels are not as expensive due to the exchange rate. Book a room with 2 singles and split the cost.
Hope you enjoy yourselves, and behave if you haven't been before it wont be like going to a match in holland or somewhere like that. High crime is expected, you will be good targets for thieves, so take care.
Your best bet is using Kenya Airways, which is a totally reputable airlines (it's a partner airline with KLM and Northwest) – they fly all over the world.
This would take you from Entebbe (the airport used for Kampala) to Accra via Nairobi. It should cost about $900.
Unfortunately, there are very very few flights between African cities because there's just no demand for it.

Anytime is a good time to go to South Africa. They are most welcoming people I've ever met.
As for my experience, I live in New England and I went in June and July. I split the time between East Cape and West Cape. That is like their fall. In East Cape was and beautiful, but some animals were not so active (I was doing mammal research). The sunsets were awesome. We'd go swimming in the Indian Ocean at Port Elizabeth. Up in the Fynbos it is was wet and cool very much like Scotland. West Cape was more humid and Cape Town was a delight. Sandals and shorts for weather.
So don't worry about the weather, it will be awesome. I would however closely look at costs. Usually with volunteer gigs they have housing for you. So the big pincher really is transportation. If you decide to stay there after your project (which I really recommend) there are many backpacker hostels throughout the country. I stayed at Long Street Backpackers in Cape Town ($12 dollars a night in 2003). Check out the Baz Bus for getting across country.
Get the Lonely Planet Guide for South Africa, you can probably get it from a library.
Whatever you do-GO FOR IT!
I always thought that vulture waits the animal death. The top predators first kill and eat after that .Eating a live animal!!! This vulture needs to be educated.
Yes- Ive never seen that before- I always thought vultures were scavengers……..they never touch anything that shows any sign of life.
